Mayor Codilla in action

Mayor Codilla signed the Senior Citizen's Card during one of the barangay visits of the LGU. His administration bring the government services closer to his constituents by conducting regular barangay visits to all 23 barangays.

The rice granary in Kananga town, includes barangays Tugbong, Cacao, Montealegre, Kawayan, Tagaytay, Libertad, Lonoy, Rizal, Libongao, Naghalin, etc. Codilla's administration has implemented the Rice Enhancement Program (REP) in this town making Kananga a major hybrid rice producer in Leyte.

The seat of municipal government in Kananga. Built in 1964, fourteen years after this town was declared as an independent municipality. Kananga is a first class municipality with a population of more than 50,000.



The newly constructed main entrance/ gate of the Municipal Government Buildings, located in the poblacion is one of the beautification projects implemented when Mayor Elmer C. Codilla assumed office in 2007. The project was completed in mid- 2008.


The old waiting shed at the public market was also facelifted with a new structure.


The new perimeter fence and entrance of the Municipal Hall in Kananga, Leyte is made of tiles and aluminum claddings.

CANANGA ODORATA: It is interesting to know that this town got its name from Ilang-ilang that abound in this place many years ago. I have spotted one of the ilang-ilang within the compound of the municipal hall.

PALOMPON: 2008


Municipal Hall of Palompon, Leyte constructed in 1950s. with a budget of less that P 100,000. with donations from former Sen Kangleon, Amang Rodriguez, Daniel Romualdez, etc. This was made possible thru the effort of former Mayor Endong Brocoy.



The old cannon, which was described in Manuel Artigas y Cuerva's "Reseña dela Historia de Leyte" as one of the weapons of the early Palomponganons during the Moro raids in 16th and 17th century. The old church (existing) which was then sorrounded by stone walls (kuta) is the place for refuge of the natives/ inhabitants who fought againts Moro invaders.


The park in Palompon is one of the oldest in Leyte.

The new city hall, located in Brgy. Cogon, this city, which completion is expected before 2009.

Its construction started as early as 2000, during the term of Mayor Dodong Codilla. If completed this will be the biggest city halls in Region 8.

Unknown to many the Puente de la Reina is one of the oldest relic of Ormoc's past. Constructed in 1870? by Gobernadorcillo, (surnamed) Aparis as reflected in the marker of the old bridge.
